On the art of the possible
If fraud’s the art of narrow aim,
like river-neck a downpour chokes,
then possibility’s an art.
A mind reduced to petty claim,
like riverbank a downpour soaks,
brims empty as it comes apart.
If possibility’s an art,
like wreck and slew of slab and sand,
then smoking desolation’s peace.
We fray out from a swollen start.
Tipping and toppling, we land
sunken in a habit’s crease.
If maybe is a practiced art
then any fool’s a masterpiece.
